OVERVIEW

Casa Roma – Lazio is set in a beautifully restored 17th-century building on Via degli Orti d’Alibert, one of the quietest residential streets in North Trastevere. This peaceful cul-de-sac sits at the foot of the Gianicolo hill, within easy walking distance of St Peter’s Basilica, the Vatican Museums, Piazza Farnese, Campo de’ Fiori and Piazza Navona.

Originally used as an artists’ studio, the house was once home to the ateliers of painters Giorgio De Chirico and Filippo de Pisis, and has been depicted by various artists over the centuries. In the 1940s, the building became a renowned candle factory before being acquired by its current owners in the early 1980s and transformed into a private residence.

Casa Roma is located on a quiet, non-through road at the foot of the Gianicolo hill. Despite being just steps from the Tiber, the house remains peaceful and away from traffic noise, with parking available directly in front of the entrance.

Within approximately 15 minutes on foot, guests can reach St Peter’s Basilica and the Vatican Museums, Castel Sant’Angelo, Piazza Navona, Piazza Farnese, Campo de’ Fiori, San Pietro in Montorio and the Tempietto del Bramante, as well as Santa Maria in Trastevere.

The Gianicolo hill is also close by, offering panoramic views across Rome. Within less than a 10-minute walk are the Botanical Gardens, Villa Corsini and Villa La Farnesina, known for its Renaissance architecture and frescoes by Raphael.
