OVERVIEW

Villa Bella Vista – Tuscan Sea View is a restored stone farmhouse set in the gentle hills above the Tuscan coast, south of Livorno. Surrounded by olive groves and overlooking the Mediterranean in the distance, the villa was designed around one of the pleasures of Tuscan life: spending time outdoors.

The owners created an expansive wrap-around portico that has become the heart of the property, with space for dining, relaxing and gathering throughout the day. A large swimming pool sits in the lawn beside the house, while the colourful interiors bring the same sense of character and warmth indoors.

ACCOMMODATION

The outer sky-blue wooden doors open onto the expansive portico, with flagstone paving leading to the French doors of the ground floor. One entrance opens into a well-equipped country kitchen with a hand-painted table, sofa and pantry extension with a second large refrigerator.

A wide open arch leads to the main sitting and dining room, featuring a corner fireplace, sofa and long painted dining table for 10, positioned in front of an arched picture window overlooking the olive grove. Across the entry hall, furnished terrace access leads to a downstairs shower room and a study lined with bookshelves, with a desk and cosy sofa positioned in front of a fireplace. The study overlooks the pool and opens onto the covered terrace.

The first floor includes a bathroom, laundry room and two double bedrooms. One has bold blue walls and views towards the pool and distant sea, while the other features warm orange accents. Two further bedrooms are located one floor higher beneath tall pastel beams. These rooms can be arranged as either doubles or twins and include trundle beds suitable for additional children. They share the shower room between them.

Throughout the house, comfortable furnishings and hand-painted details reflect the artistic character of the family, from birds painted along the staircase to colourful geometric bed frames and unexpected details throughout the rooms.
The generous swimming pool is surrounded by sun loungers, while the nearby portico provides shade throughout the day. Shower and changing facilities are located beside the veranda, and both the pool and portico are illuminated for evening use. The outdoor setting can also be arranged for private dinners or catered occasions.

THE AREA

Villa Bella Vista is a short drive from the medieval village of Castellina Marittima and Pomaia, home to the Tibetan Buddhist monastery. The Tuscan coast is also within easy reach, with the beaches of Vada and the seaside resort of Castiglioncello less than half an hour away.

The Bolgheri wine region near Castagneto Carducci is a natural choice for wine enthusiasts, while Pisa, Lucca and Volterra are all within approximately an hour’s drive. The location offers an easy balance between the Tuscan countryside, the coast and some of the region’s most distinctive cultural and wine destinations.
